1994 Toyota Camry Stalling
Loved Barbara:
I have a 1994 Toyota Camry with 160,000 miles. In up to the minute July I was leaving work and started the car and while it was still chilled I started to leave. Once I stopped waiting to stimulate into the street it died. It was then hard to start but once it started up again it with dispatch died. This has done this several times now. After I let it sit for a while I can start it back it up and it acts like nothing is improper. The check engine light never comes on.
I have had into my mechanic several times who replaced the igniter, the Iac motor, and even the whole distributor and nothing seems to fix the problem. It did it again this former weekend and the next day I started it up, it ran fine and I took it into the neighbourhood pub Toyota dealership thinking they might have better furnishings etc than my mechanic who was just costing me lots of kale.
After two days they returned it to me saying they couldn’t find the problem, saying the car has to duplicate the problem before they can diagnosis it.
So now I move around to you to see if you might have an answer.

Dear Mike,
You have already changed most everything that is garden-variety for that vehicle. I would check the little relay/come together box right next to the battery and if the bracket that holds the relays is not grounded rightly mostly due to battery corrosion it can also cause this debouchment. It usually has a small 10mm or 12mm bolt that attaches it to the battery tray so assassinate it and check for a dirty or corrosive correlation.
The fuel pump and the fuel motivate relay are also possibilities. It is going to be impregnable to figure out until it stops for good, then it would be a unostentatious fix for most mechanics. Also any 3 or 4 wire sensors can undertaking a vehicle to stall if shorted so look into for wires to be burned to the exhaust such as 02 sensors as they can intermediately bring on a stall when the wire makes association.
Is the distributor new or used that you had installed? If it was second-hand there is a good chance that the person that some time ago owned it had the same problem hence this is a very common problem on high mileage Toyota’s.
If it mostly happens when you let off of the accelerator then it could be the lethargic air motor not letting the car idle like it should, the throttle place sensor causing a faulty reading, an EGR valve sticking bare or even a transmission lock solenoid staying affianced.
